Behind the Design

This design celebrates the Andean llama, one of the most representative animals of the Andes and a symbol of life at high altitude.

The main illustration highlights its abundant coat, calm presence, and the textiles that evoke its close relationship with Andean cultures. The naturalist studies surrounding the composition reveal some of its most characteristic traits, such as feet adapted to mountainous terrain and its social behavior within the herd.

The landscape, warm tones, and botanical details reinforce its connection to the high-Andean ecosystems, where it has accompanied local communities for centuries. More than portraying an iconic animal, this design seeks to bring us closer to its story and its importance within Andean identity. Because we believe that when we know nature, we learn to protect it.

Materials & Sustainability

Made from eco canvas crafted with 100% recycled polyester. Its invisible protective finish helps repel water-based liquids, accidental spills, and dust, while its abrasion resistance reduces pilling caused by regular use and washing. The base fabric is certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, and according to the manufacturer’s technical specifications, its recycled content is backed by RCS (Recycled Claim Standard) and GRS 4.0 (Global Recycled Standard).

Each placemat is handmade and printed using sublimation technology, allowing us to reproduce detailed artwork, vibrant colors, and rich blacks. The inks are certified to OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT.

Impact

These placemats transform recycled polyester into a durable, reusable product designed to accompany many meals.

They are handmade in women-led community workshops, where we seek to create fairly paid employment, strengthen local skills, and distribute the opportunities generated by our production more equitably.

Their durability and ease of washing help extend their useful life and make better use of the materials involved in their production.
