Behind the Design

This design celebrates the Ecuadorian hillstar, a high-Andean hummingbird known for its vibrant plumage and remarkable agility in flight.

The main illustration shows it perched on the chuquirahua (Chuquiraga jussieui), widely known as the flower of the Andes and an important source of nectar for this species. The naturalist studies highlight the speed of its wings, its ability to hover, and the intense metabolism that sustains its energy.

The botanical details evoke the high-Andean ecosystems where it lives and feeds. Because we believe that when we know nature, we learn to protect it.

The interior is made with sugarcane fiber paper, recognizable by its naturally warm, slightly beige tone, which gives the journal an organic and distinctive character.

The 100 blank sheets provide complete freedom for writing, drawing, or sketching.

The hardcover binding adds structure and protects the pages, while the rounded corners help preserve the journal during everyday use and travel.

Two ribbon bookmarks make it easy to mark different moments or sections, while the elastic closure keeps the journal securely closed and helps protect notes, memories, or small documents stored between its pages.

Impact

We believe that even everyday objects can be designed more consciously.

That is why we chose paper made from sugarcane fiber, incorporating an alternative material to conventional paper and making use of fiber derived from an agricultural by-product.

We also designed the journal to be durable and long-lasting, because extending the useful life of a product is an important part of how we understand more responsible consumption.

Each journal brings together functionality, design, and nature in an object created to stay with you, gradually filling with ideas, drawings, stories, and memories.
