Behind the Design

This design celebrates the blue-footed booby, one of the most recognizable and beloved species of the Galápagos Islands. The main illustration captures the moment it plunges into the ocean in search of food, highlighting its agility, close connection to the sea, and unmistakable blue feet.

Surrounding it, smaller naturalist studies portray essential moments in its life: protecting its nesting area, caring for its eggs, and performing its distinctive courtship dance, during which it displays its feet through slow, expressive movements.

That is why we chose paper made from sugarcane fiber, incorporating an alternative material to conventional paper and making use of fiber derived from an agricultural by-product.

We also designed the journal to be durable and long-lasting, because extending the useful life of a product is an important part of how we understand more responsible consumption.
